Hi, my name is Verena and I am the founder of Mom in Balance New York!  I am German and lived in the Netherlands for the last 6 years with my husband and two sons Frederik (2009) and Philipp (2011). I am a certified Fitness- and Personal Trainer. Before moving to Amsterdam I worked fulltime in Marketing Strategy for many years as a Marketing Manager, which I really enjoyed. But I always loved sports, having been a competitive swimmer until my early twenties, competing on the highest national level in Germany. My love for sports never ended and when I moved to the Netherlands I completed a personal trainer course and started my own company for personal training in Amsterdam. I found my passion in helping other people and particularly moms to build up a healthy lifestyle and to reach their personal sports goals.

When I gave birth to my second son, I came in contact with Mom in Balance and was immediately convinced by the unique concept. In 2012 I started giving trainings for Mom in Balance in Amsterdam. 4 years later, I still love giving trainings and get so much energy from helping participants to stay fit and healthy in this special time of their lives.

In 2014, I started working at Mom in Balance head office in Haarlem to introduce Mom in Balance to Germany. Until 2016 I was also coaching our international franchisees to successfully set up their businesses. Now, I’m a Mom in Balance Business owner myself am bringing Mom in Balance (back) to New York, the place where Esther van Diepen developed Mom in Balance 8 years ago!

I’m looking forward to meeting you!

The trainers attended a specialised training developed by Mom in Balance. In developing the program Mom in Balance collaborated with diverse doctors, experts and organisations (a gynecologist, a nutritionist, a clinical midwife, a physcial therapist specializing in the pelvic region, TNO Research and a Dutch health insurance company).

Below is a list of some of the literature and studies that were referenced during development of the program:

  • Clapp, Exercising through your pregnancy (2002)
  • Marieke van Doorn e.a., Maximal aerobic exercise in pregnant women (1991)
  • Mc Donald, Aerobic exercise for women during pregnancy (2008)
  • Hajo Wildschut, The association of daily physical activity and birth outcome (2010)
  • Guidelines re sport and pregnancy of the American College of Obstetricians & Gyneacologists (ACOG) (2002)

Mom in Balance is currently working together with researchers and a multidisciplinary work-group to develop standard guidelines in the field of Sport and Pregnancy.
