New York: Central Park
Hi, my name is Eliëtte. I am originally Dutch but I've moved around a lot as a child and in more recent years with my husband and later my daughter also. We moved to New York with our then 15-month old daughter in September 2016 and our son was born end of October of that same year. My kids are only 16 months apart so you can say they keep me busy!
Before having kids I worked as an HR Business Partner for a Dutch bank. I stopped working when I moved to London, already pregnant with my daughter and then we moved again when I was pregnant with my son and I haven't gone back to work since.
I came in contact with Mom in Balance via my sister, who set up MIB in Stockholm just two years ago. She was the one who brought me into contact with Verena. My sister visited me in NYC to meet my then 6-week old son and I had just had my 6-week post-natal check-up so we decided to join a MIS workout here in Central Park and ever since then I have been hooked!
I have always loved doing exercise. As a teenager I played tennis, field hockey and went running a few times a week. When I went to university I started doing all types of fitness classes such as spinning, step, body combat, etc, and I started picking up running more seriously. I always aspired to become a fitness instructor some day but I never made the time for it next to my HR career. So once I moved to NYC and came into contact with Verena, I knew there were no excuses anymore!
I love Mom in Balance! Training outdoors in Central Park with other mothers (to be) is both a great way to re-energize as well as a great way to meet and talk to other women who are going through a similar phase in their life. I also think it's great that we focus on a total body workout, combining cardio with upper body, lower body and core exercises. Although you can do all the exercises at home, I feel doing the strength training in a group setting is so much more motivating and inspiring. I have become a better mom because of these workouts. Just taking the time to step away from the chaos at home and spend an hour just focussing on myself and getting a good workout all at the same time!
I am very excited that I am now part of the Mom in Balance team and I look forward to seeing you in one of my workout sessions in Central Park!
