WINTER BABIES - DO YOU NEED TIPS ON HOW TO DRESS YOUR BABY IN THE COLD?
We have put together a list with some useful tips for you to help keep your little one cosy and warm in dipping temperatures!
1. Dress in layers!
2. Start with thermal underwear closest to the body, both a long sleeved onesie and long johns. The nicest materials are merino wool or a mix of silk and wool. The beauty of wool is that it regulates body heat, warms when it's cold and cools down when it's warm. Remember that cotton doesn't push away the moisture from the body, on the contrary, it will quickly become cold - so don't use too much cotton in the winter.
3. On really cold days you can add a second layer of either thicker wool or fleece pants and a sweater on top of the thermal underwear. We also love the one-piece woollen suits as a second layer! Not to forget the woollen socks, preferably in 2 layers.
4. Make sure your baby has a well fitting hat that covers their ears, and that they are wearing mittens at all times! You can even wear a thin woollen balaclava underneath the hat if super cold as well as a thin woollen neck warmer if needed.
5. We love one-piece snowsuits for babies for 2 reasons: a) it's easier for the parent to put on the baby and b) a bulky two-piece snowsuit restricts movement
And lastly...don't forget to check on your baby to make sure she is not too cold or too hot. The best place to check if a baby is too cold or too hot is the neck and the hands. If she’s too cold she will feel cold and if she’s too hot she will be sweating.
Enjoy the winter together with your family!!
