Membership
Can I stop my membership during my holiday?

You cannot -temporarily- stop the subscription for vacation reasons (exception for the summer and end of your breaks, see below). The right to catch up missed workouts expires after ending the subscription. It is possible to catch up missed workouts due to a planned vacation on other days within a period of 3 months. 

During the end of year break (17th of December until the 7th of January) you could pause your membership if you are away on holiday. The same goes for the Summer period from beginning of July till end of August. Your pause should always be announced upfront and via e-mail and is always with a maximum of 3 weeks during summer and 2 weeks during the end of year break. If you decide to stop the membership over the holiday break there is also the regular one calendar month notice period.

Holiday schedules are being announced via website, newsletter and Facebook.

In 2017, as a consequence of the school summer holidays followed by the Kenyan elections Mom in Balance Kenya will be closed from beginning of July until mid-August 2017. Your membership will be frozen for this period.

 
I applied for a trial workout but can't make it on the day that I was assigned. How does this work?
You can schedule the session again to join the workout. If you cannot make it also to the second session then we have to charge the trial session anyway and you will have to apply for a new trial through the site.
I have done a trial workout and would like to get a full subscription. What do I have to do?
Great that you would like to exercise with Mom in Balance! For a full subscription you will have to enroll again via the website. 
I received a free trial session coupon. How can I use this?
Great that you come and join the workout! You can apply through the website and by using the code on the coupon you will be enrolled. You will receive an email in which group you can participate.
I want to cancel my membership. What should I do?

You can cancel your membership, after the first three months, by sending an email to nairobi@mominbalance.com. There is one month notice period. The Pregnant subscription will end automatically on your due date.

I would like to sign up and I still have my package from the previous time. Do I get a discount?
If you have previously participated in the Pregnant Workout or the Back in Shape Workout, and you still have all the materials from the package, you will get 1 free lesson as a gift. Please mention this in the comments section if you have previously participated and we will adjust your fee accordingly.
I would like to start with one of the workouts. What should I do?
You can sign up on the website. You will receive a confirmation of receipt after signing up and approving the General Terms and Conditions. We will assign you to a group and email you with all the details of the workout (exact meeting location and the name and contact details of the trainer).

General
Are the workouts always outdoors?

Yes! It is refreshing to exercise outdoors and besides keeping you fit and healthy, it puts you in a fantastic mood too and reduces your stress levels.

Are the workouts on national holidays?
The workouts take place year-round, with the exception of national holidays. There will be no refund or fee reduction given for these dates but the workouts can be made up at any time within a period of 3 months.
Do the workouts take place, even when it rains?
The workouts will always take place regardless of weather conditions. The trainer will make sure you stay warm during the rainy workouts. A light rain jacket can be very helpful during the workout when it rains. Only in the case of very heavy rain or thunder will the workout be cancelled. This will be communicated to you at least one hour prior to the start of the workout. By inclement weather always check your app or email prior to departing for the workout. If your workout is canceled, you can make it up on another day.
How do I pay my membership fee?
You will receive an invoice via email for your membership fee. The amount due can be paid by mpesa or bank transfer as stated on the invoice.
I am really out of shape, can I still participate?
Of course you can join! The Mom in Balance Fitness Program is suitable for all fitness levels. The trainer ensures correct differentiation within the group. Are you still unsure? Then sign up for a trial lesson and decide for yourself whether you like it or not.
I have an injury/complications. What should I do?
When you are unable to continue your workouts because of an injury or complications, please let us know through nairobi@mominbalance.com. We will pause your subscription and will re-activate it when you are recovered. Also always consult your doctor or midwife for advice.
It has been a few months since I gave birth, which workout is right for me?
We recommend doing the Back in Shape Workout for at least three months prior to moving up to the Mom in Shape Workout. If you are exceptionally fit and would like to move up more quickly, please discuss this with your trainer.
It is really hot today, is the workout still going on?

Yes, the workouts will always take place regardless of weather conditions. An exception applies for extreme weather conditions (e.g. thunder storms).  In such the workout can be cancelled. 

Concerning the heat make sure you wear the right clothes and bring sufficient water!

What do I bring to the workout?
We recommend bringing a bottle of water and sun screen.
What should I wear during the workouts?
Comfortably fitting athletic wear and shoes. Don't forget mosquito repellent (mostly applicable for the evening workouts)!
Where can I leave my things during the workout?
The trainers have a backpack to store keys and cell phones. Water bottles can be set down at the location of the workout.
Pregnant Workout
I exercise frequently and I'm in good shape, when should I switch over to the pregnancy workouts?
You can best make the switch to the Pregnancy Workout around 16 weeks. Once you have entered the second trimester, you should no longer be actively training your rectus abdominus. Would you like to train more than 1x a week? No problem, we also have a Pregnancy Unlimited membership that allows you to train as many times a week as you like based on the offering of classes.
I have problems with my hips/pelvic, can I still participate in the workouts?
You can certainly participate. Be sure to let us know so the trainer can take it into account during the workout. Continuing with movement and building muscle strength is important, particularly when there are complaints. Our program has been developed in close cooperation with pelvic specialists.
I want to stop with the pregnancy workouts. What should I do?
There is a 3-month minimum membership period required for the Pregnancy Workout. Your membership stops automatically when you reach your due date. If you would like to stop before your due date, but after you have completed the 3-month period then send an email to nairobi@mominbalance.com. Are you past-due but still have the energy to continue with the workouts? Then those workouts are on us!
I would like to join the pregnant workouts but I can only do so for a couple of weeks. Is this possible?
Yes, it is! It is never too late to work on your fitness, and it will work in your benefit during labor. Your membership will continue until your due date. If you wish to end your membership prior to your due date you can contact us at nairobi@mominbalance.com. In order to receive the Pregnancy Box (bag, book and a resistance band), your membership must be valid for a minimum of 3 months, otherwise you will be charged separately for the Pregnancy Box. The amount you are charged will depend on how many weeks you participated in the Pregnancy Workout.
I'm pregnant, when can I start with the workouts?
You can start the moment you find out your pregnant. Most participants start the workouts between 12 and 16 weeks and you can continue to train with us until (or after) your due date.
Mom in Shape Workout
I want to stop with my Power subscription. What should I do?
You can cancel your membership by sending an email to nairobi@mominbalance.com. There is a one-month cancellation period for the Mpower membership.
Back in Shape Workout
I have just given birth, when can I start the workouts?
You can begin the workouts starting from 6 weeks after giving birth, or 8 weeks after Caesarean section. Did you have a difficult childbirth with complications? Check first with your gynecologist before starting the fitness program.
I want to stop with the Back in Shape workouts. What should I do?
There is a 3-month minimum membership period required for the Back in Shape Workout and after that your subscription will be automatically renewed on a monthly basis. There is a one-month cancellation period for the Back in Shape membership. You can cancel your membership by sending an email to nairobi@mominbalance.com.
FAQ Corona Measures
Can I cancel my membership for 3 weeks?

We will adjust your invoice for the month of March and as of April we will send you the adjusted LIVESTREAM fee. 

Even though we can't train outside, we are doing everything to offer you other ways to stay fit. You can continue using your membership. We offer different workout alternatives: every week there are 5 different livestream workouts and there are also extra online workouts available. Check the Member App for more information.

Can I change my membership due to the Coronavirus?
We refer you to our terms and conditions. The measures we are taking to help stop the spreading of the Coronavirus is not a valid reason to stop your membership. We have changed our offer to livestream workouts so that luckily you can stay fit and strong.
Can I freeze my membership due to the Coronavirus?
In order to keep you fit we offer different workout alternatives: every week there are 5 different livestream workouts and there are also extra online workouts available. Check the Member App for more information. You can catch up on your missed workouts you already have credits for later.
Can I receive compensation for the weeks that there are no outdoor workouts?

We will adjust your March invoice. 

Even though we are temporarily not giving any outdoor workouts, we are doing everything to keep you engaged, fit and full of energy. Exclusively for our members we offer online workouts via a livestream so that you can keep your sports routine. Furthermore, we offer extra online workouts for at home; check the Member App for more information. We hope you will continue working out with us and support us in these difficult times.

Can I still register for a new membership?
Due to the situation we are now giving online workouts. This way we can keep you fit and full of energy. Exclusively for members we offer different online workouts: per week there are 5 different livestream workouts and there are extra online workouts available to at home at any time that works for you. We have the ‘7-minute total body workout’ and a ‘Family home routine workout’. Register for a membership now at our special price and you will have access to our Members app. Via the Members App you can join the livestream workouts and you will have access to our exclusive online workouts.
I have not officially been tested for Covid-19 but I do not feel fit enough to train, can I freeze my membership?
It is not possible to freeze your membership. When you feel fit again you can join our livestream workouts as often as you want until we will be able to work out in the parks again. Hopefully we can resume our workouts outside in the not too far future and welcome you back to our parks! You can then also use your credits you still have in your app.
My membership is ending in the next two weeks. I still have credits left. What happens now?

We now offer online workouts. This way you can stay fit and full of energy. We offer different workouts: per week we have 18 different livestream workouts and we have extra online workouts for at home. You can join as often as you want. Check the Member App for more information. 

You can have a max of 4 credits in your Member App that you can use during an active membership. If you decide to extend your membership your credits will stay valid.

Should I cancel my workouts in the app myself or does this happen automatically?
The outdoor workouts are cancelled in the app until we are allowed to workout outdoors again. You can no longer register for those. The credits you already had will remain. Until further notice we offer online (livestream!) workouts. Every week there are 5 different livestream workouts and there are extra online workouts available for at home for example a ‘7-minute total body workout’ and a ‘Family home routine workout’. You can participate as often as you want, you do not have to register for these workouts.
Should I cancel my workouts in the Member app?

At this moment the regular outdoor workouts are being removed from the planning and replaced by the workouts we will livestream. Therefore you do not have to cancel your workouts in the app.

Exclusively for our members we now offer online workouts via a livestream so that you can keep your sports routine. Furthermore we offer extra online workouts for at home; check the Member App for videos!

There are no outdoor workouts offered. What do I do now?
Due to the measures regarding the Coronavirus, we will not have any outdoor workouts until further notice. We hope to be able to contribute to decrease the spread of the Coronavirus. Do not worry, we will continue our workouts online. At least 5 days a week you can follow workouts via our LIVESTREAM!
