Mom in Balance membership
I am really out of shape, can I still participate?

Of course you can join! The Mom in Balance Fitness Program is suitable for all fitness levels. The trainer ensures correct differentiation within the group. Are you still unsure? Then sign up for a trial lesson and decide for yourself whether you like it.

I exercise frequently and I'm in good shape, when should I switch over to the pregnancy workouts?

Ideally you would switch to the Pregnancy workout as soon as you find out that you are pregnant. At the latest entering the second trimester, you should no longer be actively training your rectus abdominus. We understand that you might not feel like letting everybody know about you expecting, so please do not hesitate to contact us to discuss the switch and find the best solution for you.

Would you like to train more than 1x a week? No problem, we also have a Pregnancy Unlimited membership that allows you to train as many times a week as you like.

I have done a trial workout and would like to get a full subscription, what do I have to do?

Great that you would like to exercise with Mom in Balance! For a full subscription you will have to enroll again though the website or through downloading our members app (I-Phone / Android).

I have problems with my hips/ pelvic instability, can I still participate in the workouts?

You can certainly participate. Be sure to let us know so the trainers can keep it into account during the workout. Continuing with movement and building muscle strength is important, particularly when there are complaints. We work closely with pelvic floor specialists.

I have received a free trial session coupon, how can I use this?

Great that you would like to come and join the workout! You can apply through the website and by using the code on the coupon you will be enrolled in the workout of your choice.

I want to join Mom in Balance, however the first day of the month has already passed. Can I still join this month?
Yes you can! When you start your Mom in Balance membership in the middle of a month, your invoice will reflect only the workouts from the date you joined. For example, when there are four workouts in a regular month and you join the workouts in the middle of the month, you will be invoiced for two workouts that month.
I would like to participate in the pregnancy workout but I can only do so for a couple of weeks because my due date approaches. What should I do?

That's possible! It is never too late to work on your fitness, and it will work in your benefit during labor. Your membership will continue until your due date. If you wish to end your membership prior to your due date you can contact us at tokyo@mominbalance.com. In order to receive the Pregnancy Package (book and a resistance band; valued at 5000¥), your membership must be valid for a minimum of 3 months, otherwise you will be charged separately for the Pregnancy Package. The amount you are charged will depend on how many weeks you participated in the Pregnancy Workout.

It's been a few months since I gave birth, which workout is suitable for me?

We recommend doing the Back in Shape Workout for at least three months prior to moving up to the Mom in Shape Workout. If you are exceptionally fit and would like to move up more quickly, please discuss this with your trainer.

I'm pregnant, when can I start with the workouts?

You can start the moment you find out you’re pregnant. Most participants start the workouts between 12 and 16 weeks and you can continue to train with us until your due date.

I've just given birth, when can I start the workouts?

You can begin the workouts starting from 6 weeks after giving birth, or 8 weeks after Cesarean section and after the ok from your doctor or midwife. Did you have a difficult childbirth with complications? Check first with your gynecologist before starting the fitness program.

Can I stop my membership for the period that I am on vacation?

It is not possible to stop your membership temporarily during your vacation but you can make up the missed classes within the period that your membership is active. Except for a longer leave during the summer period, at least 4 weeks or longer. Please send us an email with your departure and return date minimum one month before your departure. 

I have an injury / complications, what should I do?

When you are unable to continue your workouts because of an injury or complications, please let us know as soon as possible through tokyo@mominbalance.com. We will then pause your memberhsip subscription and will re-activate it when you are recovered. In addition, always consult your doctor or midwife for advice. 

I want to stop with the back in shape workout, what must I do?

There is a 3-month minimum membership period required for the Back in Shape workouts. After 3 months it will be converted into the Back in Shape membership subscription automatically. Or the Back in Shape subscription can be ended after 3 months with a one month notice by sending an email to tokyo@mominbalance.com

I want to stop with the Mpower workout, what must I do?

There is a 3-month minimum membership period required for the MPower workouts. After 3 months it will be converted into a MPower membership subscription automatically. There is a one-month cancellation period for the MPower membership. You can cancel your membership by sending an email to tokyo@mominbalance.com

I want to stop with the pregnancy workout, what must I do?

There is a 3-month minimum membership period required for the Pregnancy workouts. Your membership stops automatically when you reach your due date. If you would like to stop before your due date, but after you have completed the 3-month period then send an email to tokyo@mominbalance.com. The cancellation period is one month. Are you past-due but still have the energy to continue with the workouts? Then those workouts are on us!

Are the workouts always outside, even in the winter?

Yes! It is especially refreshing to exercise outdoors during the cold winter months when you are often cooped up indoors.

Are there workouts on national holidays?

The workouts take place year-round, with the exception of certain national holidays. There will be no refund or fee reduction given for these dates but the workouts can be made up at any time. 

Can I bring my little one to the workouts?

One of the goals of the Mom in Balance workouts is to create a moment of 100% 'me-time' as these moments are very rare in busy mom life! That being said, it can sometimes be hard to organise care for the little one. Therefore, during our workouts, your little one(s) are always welcome!

We offer a babysitting service provided by CareFinder babysitters. We ask for a contribution of 800¥ per child for this service. The babysitter can be booked through our app at the latest 24 hours before the workout. If you have trouble with the booking please send us an email via tokyo@mominbalance.com to confirm that a spot for your little one is available.

If you need to cancel the babysitter, please do so at the latest 2 hours prior to the workout via email. Later than that we will have to charge you the fee of 800¥ regardless.

The usage of our babysitter service it at own risk. Mom in Balance Tokyo or the babysitters are not liable for any injuries, illness or death of children. Neither for lost or stolen items. 

Do the workouts take place even when it rains?

The workouts will always take place regardless of weather conditions. The trainer will make sure you stay warm during the rainy workouts. A light rain jacket can be very helpful during the workout when it rains. 

In case of a drizzle, we will meet in the regular workout location. In case of heavier rain we might switch locations to a nearby sheltered area. In that case we will inform you via email at least one hour prior to the workout.

Only in the case of a typhoon or thunderstorms will the workout be cancelled. This will be communicated to you by email at least one hour prior to the start of the workout. By inclement weather always check your email prior to departing for the workout. If your workout is canceled, you can make it up on another day.

I would like to sign up again but I still have my package from the previous time. Do I get a discount?

If you have previously participated in the Pregnant Workout or the Back in Shape Workout, and you still have all the stuff from the package, you will get a discount of 1500¥. Please make mention in the comments section if you have previously participated and we will adjust your fee accordingly.

It is really hot outside, is the workout still going on?

Yes, the workouts will always take place regardless of weather conditions. An exception applies for extreme weather conditions (e.g. thunder storms). In such the workout can be cancelled. Concerning the heat make sure you wear the right clothes and bring sufficient water! All our location also have shady areas and water fountains are available on site as well.

What do I need to bring to the workout?

Make sure to wear sports shoes and comfortable clothes. We also recommend bringing a bottle of water, and of course, a good attitude!

What type of clothing should I wear during the workouts?

Comfortably fitting athletic wear and shoes. In the colder months we recommend layers, a hat and gloves. This will help to keep you warm and provide you with the opportunity to remove layers if you get too warm.

Where can I leave my things during the workout?

The trainers have a backpack to store your valuables, such as keys and cell phones. Jackets and water bottles can be set down at the location of the workout.

Are the workouts covered by my health insurance?

In the future we hope our workouts in Tokyo will be covered by several health insurance companies. One of our goals for the next year will be to work together with these companies. You can always inquire with your insurance company directly.
